Panel 1: Understanding behaviour of firms and consumers

  • Behavioural economics increasingly informs our understanding of human decision-making, including that of consumers and firms.
  • How are behavioural insights applied to improve regulatory policy? What other behavioural techniques can regulators use to support confident and informed decision-making by retail investors? How can these techniques be tested? And what are the limits of behavioural interventions when it comes to the regulation of firms and individuals?
  • Reflecting on real case studies, this panel session will explore what regulators have done, can do, and are doing, to help consumers make better decisions and address behavioural issues in the industry.
