David Wilson welcomes nomination of Howard Wetston as new OSC Chair

TORONTO - Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) Chair and Chief Executive Officer David Wilson today congratulated Howard Wetston, Q.C., on his nomination as OSC Chair and CEO. Mr. Wilson, whose five-year term expires Oct. 31, 2010, made the statement after the Minister responsible for the OSC, Ontario Finance Minister Dwight Duncan, announced Mr. Wetston’s nomination.

Howard Wetston is currently Chair and CEO of the Ontario Energy Board. He is a former Vice-Chair of the OSC. His nomination is subject to a review by the provincial Standing Committee on Government Agencies.

“Howard knows the OSC, the quality of its people and its work as an effective securities regulator,” said Mr. Wilson. “I offer my best wishes to him in the role of guiding the OSC through the immediate challenges of regulating the province’s capital markets.”
