Affiliated Trade Group

For Immediate Release OSC Investor Alert

TORONTO - The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) is warning investors that the company Affiliated Trade Group and its representatives are not registered in Ontario to solicit investments or provide advice on investing in, buying, or selling securities.

The Affiliated Trade Group is disseminating a fake document suggesting it has received exemptive relief from applicable securities law in Ontario.  This document is being distributed to potential investors, implying that the company was previously registered as a reporting issuer in Ontario. In fact, Affiliated Trade Group has never filed an application for exemptive relief, or been granted any discretionary relief under securities legislation in Ontario, nor has it ever been registered as a reporting issuer in the province.

All Orders, Rulings and Decisions issued by the OSC relating to discretionary relief are posted on the OSC’s website.  Investors are urged to check the OSC website before they invest.

The Alberta Securities Commission also recently published an Investor Alert on December 14, 2018, about the Affiliated Trade Group. The company claims to have locations in Calgary, Costa Rica, Japan and Switzerland.

Ontarians who have been approached by representatives of Affiliated Trade Group are advised to contact the OSC Inquiries and Contact Centre at 1-877-785-1555 or [email protected].

The mandate of the OSC is to provide protection to investors from unfair, improper or fraudulent practices, to foster fair and efficient capital markets and confidence in the capital markets, and to contribute to the stability of the financial system and the reduction of systemic risk.  Investors are urged to check the registration of any persons or company offering an investment opportunity and to review the OSC investor materials available at www.osc.ca.
