OSC Announces Roundtable on Derivatives Registration and Business Conduct Rules

TORONTO –The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) today announced that it will hold a roundtable to discuss stakeholder input on the CSA notices Proposed National Instrument 93-102 Derivatives: Registration and Proposed Companion Policy 93-102 Derivatives: Registration and Proposed National Instrument 93-101 Derivatives: Business Conduct and Proposed Companion Policy 93-101 CP Derivatives: Business Conduct.

The roundtable will take place on September 20, 2018, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at The Globe and Mail Centre, located at 351 King Street East in Toronto, Ontario.

The event will feature panel discussions on the major policy proposals outlined in the notices. Panellists will be selected to reflect a diversity of roles and views. Representatives of banks, pension funds and buy-side market participants have been invited.

The OSC will provide additional details, including the agenda, list of panellists and registration details in August 2018.

The mandate of the OSC is to provide protection to investors from unfair, improper or fraudulent practices, to foster fair and efficient capital markets and confidence in the capital markets, and to contribute to the stability of the financial system and the reduction of systemic risk.  Investors are urged to check the registration of any persons or company offering an investment opportunity and to review the OSC investor materials available at www.osc.ca.
