International Affairs

Explore this section if you want to learn more about the OSC's involvement in international affairs. Start with Why We're Involved in International Affairs.

OSC Commissioners and staff participate in a variety of international organizations that work to improve the regulation of financial services throughout the world. These organizations include the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO), the international Joint Forum of Financial Regulators, the Council of Securities Regulators of the Americas (COSRA) and the North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA). Visit International Organizations - Who's Who to learn more about these organizations.

Through these organizations and other channels, we strengthen our relationships with regulators in other countries. We also monitor regulatory and capital market developments elsewhere in the world, provide advice and assistance to other regulators, and cooperate in the enforcement of securities laws across borders. To learn more about the activities of securities regulators in other countries and international organizations concerned with capital markets, financial services and the financial system generally, check out the International Links section of our website.

We have entered into International Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with regulators in other jurisdictions to enhance information-sharing and enforcement support. The OSC has also signed the new IOSCO Multilateral MOU (IOSCO MMOU), which establishes high standards for cooperation and information sharing.
