The OSC is a self-funded Crown Corporation responsible to the Ontario Legislature through the Minister of Finance.

As the regulator of Ontario's capital markets, the OSC recognizes the importance of setting an example in the areas of transparency and effective governance.

David Wilson was appointed the Chair and Chief Executive Officer of the Commission, effective November 1, 2005. Lawrence Ritchie and James Turner were appointed Vice-Chairs to the Commission, effective February 21, 2007.
